The beauty of nature, the forming hand, and play… of the eye, of children, of the heart.

Specializing in natural play structures for children, landscape features and rustic furniture and dining pieces.  All with woodland natural timbers.  All with beauty, the hidden, and the imagination at the fore.

Climbing structures, play houses, treehouses, swingsets, sandboxes, zip lines, slab dining tables and other raw wood furnishings, pergolas, gates, and more…

Building Philosophy

I build “Providentially”,  working together with what is sourced and available in local woods and with what is determined by the site - indoors or out.   The "plan" is first formed by the pre-existing 'wisdom' and elemental life of the landscape or space - the “genus loci”  (the genius or spirit of the place, the creative “feng shui”).  Whole tree natural timbers are the basic source material, at times combined with stone, metal or other material.  Lumber yard products are generally not used, except for decking and other specialty materials when needed.  A rough plan is agreed upon by the client.  To work aesthetically “with Nature” ...  a calling to 'perceive' placement on the landscape first, design the structure emerging, and build creatively with the timber materials at hand in an open conception of the design process. Delightful surprises result.
